Its FRIDAY!! So whats on your needles? Contest

So its Friday, for most its just about the greatest day of the week. Knowing that you get to look forward to a couple days off before starting all over again. In my world at the moment and for the past 20 years or so give or take a whole 12 months that I got to work elsewhere and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!

My husband and I own and operate our own company. As any of you know that own or operate your own business, there are no set days of the week that you work, there are no set times.........you can not plan a vacation EVER, and it gets old. Then there are the times like the past 2 weeks that there was NO work, NO money yet plenty to do, but no advance notice so that you might be able to plan something..............anything!

I will not have a day off now for probably 2 months, as it will take us that long to get caught up, back on track and hopefully a bit ahead of our shipment releases.

Ok that is off my chest for now...............now lets have a bit of a contest!! On to the fun stuff!!!
I have a copy of Knit Mittens!: 15 Cool Patterns to Keep You Warm (Knit) (Hardcover)that I would like to give away. Its now coming up on fall and we are all starting to think of our Christmas knitting, gift giving and in our neck of the woods here in the mitten state..........winter. Brrrrrrrrrr !

So I would like everyone to leave a comment here on my blog and at the end of the month I will use a random number generator, based on what number your response is you could win this book! Please only one entry per person.

Thanks for stopping by!! Lorrie knittin in the mitten!

....above photo example only....

My Progress here

Oh whats on my needles you say? I have started a Elizabeth Zimmerman two needle February baby sweater (pattern found in this book)that is being knit with Happy Feet yarn colorway #13 and US size 4 needles in hopes of it coming out to be a true newborn size. Really its ok if the new granddaughter that will be born in December can only wear it for a good month or so.........

I've got socks on my needles......one sock (no mate yet) is almost done, it's on dpn's, and the other is a pair of to-be-socks, learning the ML method while knitting these. On another pair of needles vegetating in a project bag beside of my chair is the front and back of a sweater for dh......hey, since it's September maybe I should pull that out and work on getting it finished so that he can wear it this winter! :-)

Hey Debra! Nice you stopped by!
So you are NOT a monogamous knitter huh?
I have to be lately or I totally guilt out not finishing something else! Take care!

I sooo sympathize with the "self employment" issues. Hubbie and I had our first vacation in 11 years last month~for the same reasons.

On my needles~socks, washcloth, a hat that is never going to get finished... and a multidirectional scarf. Too many projects to do and not nearly enough time.

I've got the Adamas Shawl on my needles and it's on hold for a bit while I lead an intarsia KAL. It's a pillow I'm knitting in red and black for my media room

On my needles - socks for one of the grandchildren, second Nutkin sock for present drawer, second scarf in what I hope will be a large number of scarves to donate for next winter to a charity. However, it's nothing like spring down here today. Extremely wet, very dark and a gale blowing which gives heavy windchill factor to the temperature. First day of spring last Monday, was beautiful. Today is curl up by the heater and knit.

I'm one who doesn't like Fridays, as I only work weekends! So I say Thank God It's Monday instead!

OTN for me - Entrelac socks, vanilla socks, a baby blanket for a friend, a sweater, a dishcloth to match my recently made soap sack and the I-cord to string in the soap sack. Whew - no wonder I never finish anything, LOL! ~ Valerie K

I've got socks on the needles - three different ones. Soon I shall have to knit something else, but today it is all socks, all the time.

I have socks and two shawls on my needles. But the socks take precedence and go everywhere with me, including work and the line to pick the kids up after school.

I have on my needles a pair of booties that I am attempting to knit, since I haven't been able to knit in almost two years due to several injuries. I am trying with a small project of little weight to see if I can at least do a few stitches at a time before my arm and hand tell me it is to much from the pain. I am hoping to be able to get back to my knitting real soon since I have had 4 surgeries and heading for one more down the road. This was always my therapy and sure do miss it.

I'm working on a pair of socks - 2 at a time, magic loop, toe up - on size 1 needles. I'm using the "Crazy Toes and Heels" method with 1 circular which I absolutely love - I'll never go back to DPN's! Also getting ready to start some mittens...

I have socks on the needles, a sweater for my husband and a Shedir hat on the needles!

OTN - the second sock now in the home stretch (they are so portable! love 'em!) and a winter shawl for mother. If I have more than three projects active at the same time, one of them tends to languish horribly.

After seeing so many February sweaters, I guess I'll have to start one.

What do I have on my needles? Well, let's see, there are the sock of my mom who lives in a nursing home where they would kill her favorite wool sock so I'm making a pair out of Barocco Comfort Sox, another pair of socks for my daughter out of Panda Wool, the sleeves for my oldest grandson's Wallaby (the body is up to the armholes, and a BSJ. Of course there are about 6 more projects to be completed by Christmas. It is such fun being the knitter for the family now that my mother can no longer do it.

Hi...I've been told that I have to get to that yarn shop in Whitmore Lake.

Anyway, what's on the needles.... what's NOT on the needles? I have 5 shawls going, 4 baby sweaters, 7 socks, maybe a tiny scarf to throw around neck for decoration, multiple bags to be felted....I actually finished one of the pairs of socks because it was for my daughter. And now I'm looking through my stash for a yarn form my current mystery shawl. That's why avoid the shop in WL!! ha!

But I would love to start knitting mittens, which oddly enough, I have never made...handwarmers, yes, but no mittens...I just realized that and it's kinda strange.

Hey lorrie...

Oh man...I know about the self-employment blues. We had a hurricane blow through here last month, and our income for the last half of the month was, literally, cancelled. Cancelled. Swell.

So, now it's now, and we can't stop building stuff, cause we have to do what we do, right? But at night, I knit and spin and write.

OTN right now is a pair of socks (thank you cat bordhi) for my DH. Fleece artist rainforest green socks (yarn I've been hoarding for over a year) that I can't wait to give him. Andddddd...

Some of my handspun, being turned into a sweater for said DH, which is actually his LAST Christmas Christmas present. Boy. I've had too many babies to knit for this year!!!!

I have a Lilehammer hat on my needles!! I've been busy spinning with my new spinning wheel so the hat is coming slowly....I would love to make some mittens and plan to before winter sets in.

Well, I have a pair of socks on one set of circs, a market bag on another circ, a shawl on another circ and a "treasure bag" drawstring purse on two other circs. The treasure bag is one of six that I am making for my daughter's Renaissance Wedding in 2010, partly made with yarn I spun and dyed.

On my needles at the moment are a bakery shop full of cupcake hats and a baby blanket that over the half way mark. And hiding just round the corner there are some infamous UFOS:( I've gotta settle down and get some SWAP knitting done first so they'll likely be hidden for a while.

On my needles are dolls clothes, two bags, a lap blankie, a shawl and a washcloth.
Can you tell I get bored easy and like to mix things up a little.
The thing sitting the longest is the bags that were waiting for a large hook to do some crochet on them, but they are only a few months waiting.
Plan to finish them all this month!

I have two pairs of socks, a man sized 2x2 toe up rib in Felici from KnitPicks, the Firefighter colorway and Lenore in Socks that Rock. And a BYOB bag knit in Peaches 'n Cream from my mom's stash. This is the 4th BYOB - I'm trying to use up yarn and get the handle just the way I like it. All for Christmas presents. Thanks for having a contest.

Karen said...

I have never met a contest I didn't like. I can't wait to see the EZ baby sweater. I just love the yarn (you can never have enough color!).

RIght now I am knitting washclothes out of this really awful yarn. Once again, I was seduced by the color to buy enough for a sweater, It is a rayon/cotton blend and is hopelessly scratchy. Should be great for exfoliating in the shower!

Meanwhile I am dreaming of a shawl design for my Kauni EQ...
